West Bromwich is the largest town in the Borough of Sandwell
with a population of around 137,000. It is situated in the Centre
of England in the county of West Midlands. Its position within the
whole of Britain is central providing an ideal base from which to
access the whole of the country.
There
are good rail and road links including the M5 motorway which passes
close to the town. Internally, West Bromwich has good public transport
systems in the form of bus, taxi, train and the Metro tram services.
West Bromwich is just five miles northwest of Birmingham, and so
is a perfect place to escape from the manic city. West Bromwich
is best known for its football club, West Bromwich Albion or the
Baggies as they are also known.
Comedian Frank Skinner is probably the Baggies most famous supporter.One
of West Bromwich's most historic buildings is the Oak House Museum.
This is a splendid 16th century timber-framed house, containing
Tudor and Jacobean furniture, is surrounded by delightful grounds.
Other attractions include The Public building in the town centre,
the largest community arts development in Europe and Sandwell
Valley Country Park, just off Junction 1 of the M5, an area of parkland
and farmland covering 8600 hectares. |
