Welcome to West Bromwich

West Bromwich is the largest town in the Borough of Sandwell with a population of around 137,000. It is situated in the Centre of England in the county of West Midlands. Its position within the whole of Britain is central providing an ideal base from which to access the whole of the country.

There are good rail and road links including the M5 motorway which passes close to the town. Internally, West Bromwich has good public transport systems in the form of bus, taxi, train and the Metro tram services.

West Bromwich is just five miles northwest of Birmingham, and so is a perfect place to escape from the manic city. West Bromwich is best known for its football club, West Bromwich Albion or the Baggies as they are also known.

Comedian Frank Skinner is probably the Baggies most famous supporter. One of West Bromwich's most historic buildings is the Oak House Museum. This is a splendid 16th century timber-framed house, containing Tudor and Jacobean furniture, is surrounded by delightful grounds.

Other attractions include The Public building in the town centre, the largest community arts development in Europe and Sandwell Valley Country Park, just off Junction 1 of the M5, an area of parkland and farmland covering 8600 hectares.

Manor House West Bromwich

The Manor House, also known as the "Old Hall" is a priceless example of a medieval timber framed hall. Few examples of this early type of architecture have survived and this is possibly the most complete example in existance. It conforms to a copy book layout and consists of a Great hall, North Solar Wing, South Wing, Chapel, Kitchen Block and Gatehouse and is surrounded on all sides by a moat.
